Show 4131 McDonald- D 2151 entered. The second time was in 1888, I think. Q Well, do you recall a trip that you made with some cattle through the state of Utah? A Oh, Lord, yes; that was from Elk Mountain, Wyoming. Q Do you recall what year that was? A Yes. Q What year was it? A 1869 -- 1868 or 1869. Q Now just tell me what you were doing and what route you traveled through the state of Utah. A Well, when we came from Elk Mountain, Wyoming, we followed practically the old trail, the old Pony Express trail, through to Fort Bridger -- you want me to tell you the different places along? Q Yes, where was Fort Bridger? A Fort Bridger was on Black' Fork, one of the prongs of Green river,-- but I get ahead too fast. When we left Elk Mountain we came through to Wagon-hound, then Medicine Bow; Medicine Bow through to Rawlins; from Rawlins up over the divide to the head of Bitter creek, down Bitter creek past point of Rock to Saltwell, into Green-river, right where the Union Pacific crosses now. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q That is Green River, Wyoming? A Green River, Wyoming. |
