Show 4166 McDonald- D 2186 Mr. Vasey; it is where the river, coming from Greenriver down, as you come down, like running into a wall, you come to the end of the river, if you look at it from here -- that is, the river makes a sharp turn and meanders towards the Little Colorado. Q After you got to that point, where did you and your associates go? A We went through,-- we paralleled the Buckskin, and I told then we would go through to Kane springs. Q Where is Kane springs? A That is a spring that was up in the Kane spring canyon, almost opposite what is known as Jacobs pool, where the road comes along the cliff coming around from Houserock and Lees Ferry; then across the valley here is the Buckskin or Kaibab range of mountains; this spring was up in it. Q Did you have any pack animals of any kind? A Pack nothing,-- no; didn't have no clothes, even, hardly. Q You were on foot? A Yes, on foot, everybody. Q What is this place referred to several times as Jacobs pool? A It is a pool that used to belong to the Mormon church, when they had cattle in there, the same as Kane springs belonged to them, the same as Houserock belonged to them. |
