A Overland with Johnson's team, up by the way of Houserock, up over the mountain and through to Kanab and back again, in ten days. Q Did you take any part in the railroad survey? A No, any more than running the boats, all they had me for. I had charge of the running of the boats. Q Did you go out to Kanab with Brown? A No. Q You stayed at Lees Ferry? A I stayed at Lees Ferry. Q Was there anybody at Lees Ferry outside of Johnson and his families? A There was old Al Huntington, that is all, I think; Johnson's boys, Jess and Roy and them, and most of the girls. I saw them. Tom Greenalt (?) and Fred Kaw (?) was carrying the mail in. They got the mail in there three days a week. Q How long were you at Lees Ferry? A I was there about fifteen days. Q While you were there did you see the mail come in? A Oh, yes. Q How was it brought in? |
