Show 4290 Loper- D 2311 a trip down the river along in August, I think; I know the river was very low at that time. Q When you went out in May of 1895 where did you go? A Went to Bluff. Q What was the purpose of that trip? A We went and made a kiln of brick in Bluff. Q Where were those brick used? A Right there in Bluff. Q You did that to help out the mining business? A Yes, to get something to eat. Q Then when did you go back into the canyon? A I wasn't in the San Juan canyon any more until 1921. Q That is, you left there in May of 1895? A Yes sir. Q And didn't go back until 1921? A Yes sir. Q Now, while you were in there during the years 1896 and 1895, did you go up and down the canyon any? A I made a trip through the canyon, the first part of the canyon; the canyon breaks at Indian Farms or Clay Hill crossing, the canyon breaks and opens out there; we went on down past the Indian Farms down past the mouth of Copper canyon, and turned and came back. Q You went from Honaker trail down to the mouth of Copper canyon? |
