Show 4188 McDonald- D 2208 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Maybe we could get at it this way. Where was the dredge when you last saw it? A When I last saw it? Q Yes. A It was right there on the lines where we had put it in, any more than it had moved up or down a few hundred feet. A line run out and was anchored above steel cable -- two of, them -- running across the river and up in the pilot house, dropped the buckets down, pull a lever over here and move the dredge here; the same move back and forth. Q The sand and gravel which you were working, from what part of the river did that come? A That came from different party, the center of the river; we worked in and out; we worked across the river on a line backwards and forwards where we thought it would pay. Q What I want is, did you work the banks of the river and also the river bed? A Oh, no, not with the dredge. Q What did you work with it? A We worked just the river bed; we got aground with the dredge several times; we had a job getting off, as big as she was. Q Have you ever been back in Glen canyon since then? |
