Q Right there, Mr. McDonald, at that time how large a place was Hardyville? A It wasn't a very large place. There wasn't over eight or ten shacks,-- houses -- they wasn't shacks. Lots of the houses was built by the Mexicans. Lots of Mexicans there, and Mojave Indians. Seven miles above Fort Mojave, it was. They had stuck willows in the ground, heavy willows, cut them off at the top and bent a piece along the top and mudded that up, just the same as using willows for lathes, the only difference is, they mudded the walls up with clay. That was the principal part of the building at that time. of course, there was some log buildings there. Q At what point did you first reach the Colorado river? A Going down? Q Yes. A At Eldorado canyon; the mill stands not half a mile from the river -- maybe half a mile from the river. Q Did you also pass through a place called Caldville?
