Show 4306 Loper- D 2327 this big flood came down, and I was -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: No, let's keep this as near as we can to the answer to the question. The question was whether outside of the change in the river at Indian Farms in Grand gulch, whether you remember now any other changes in the river of any note between 1895 and 1921. A No, I won't say that I do, -- that I seen any more great changes, that there was a change that was happening at the time. BY MR. BALCKMAR: Q What difficulty did you have in bringing. Trimble's boats down? A We portaged our loads one rapid; if I remember rightly, just above Slick Horn canyon; the outfit was on shore, surveying down; I was bringing the boats down; I came to the rapid; the cook and the geologist was on down ahead; so we shouted to them, and they came back and helped carry the leads around; I run the boats over the rapid, and landed below and reloaded the boats and went on. Then after we passed Grand gulch, then we began to have lost more trouble with the sand, because the river is quite wide below there; while it is still a canyon, it is a wider canyon than from Grand gulch up. |
