Show 4146 McDonald- D 2166 with some of the burros, left me the horses; I stayed there with these fellows,-- there was Tom Hall, Nichols, Claude Sanford, Bill Curry, Bob Farley and myself. Q THEN WHAT did you do down there? A Mined and prospected around there and explored the country in different directions to see if we could find out where this gold came from that was in the country; there was gold in the gravel bars, but not in quantities;-- it was the flour gold -- not in quantities so a man; could make much at it. THE SPECIAL MASTER: What was the from of the gold? BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q What kind of gold was it? What was its form? A It was flour gold, what is called flour gold; you couldn't gather it up, like you could shot gold; always had to pour the quicksilver in to gather it up; whenever you put quicksilver in the gold pan, the gold is in the sand, you can stir it around and the quick grabs off all the gold there is in there until it becomes loaded, and you can pick the quick up. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Very find dust, I understand? The flour gold is very find dust? A It is fine, just the same as the name implies, looks like flour, you can see the yellow streaks, of course. |
