Came through from Kanab to Johnson, Johnson across the divide to Houserock, Houserock down by Jacobs Pool, and around under the Vermilion Cliffs to there, then it crossed the river there and went through to Moenkopi; from Moenkopi through to -- I don't know whether they used to carry it to Holdridge of Flagstaff; three trips a week. Q Did your expedition lose any boats after you left Cataract canyon down to Lees Ferry? A Going down to Lees Ferry? Q After you left Cataract canyon. A No, not on that trip; we left Lees Ferry with three boats and eight men; we started with six boats and sixteen men. Q Then you continued on down the river with your trip? A Yes, after we got supplies. Q At what point did the trip terminate? A It terminated at North canyon, that is, on the saddle of the Buckskin mountain. Q Where is it with reference to Bright Angel? A Oh, Lord, it's way east of Bright Angel, a long way; if you went by the river it is forty- five or fifty miles from Bright Angel, where Bright Angel empties into the river.
