BLACKMAR: Q Which trip did you have the most trouble with the bars,-- on the first or the second? A We had the most trouble on the second trip with the bars. Q After you got into Lees Ferry did you get some supplies there? A Yes. I sent word to Warren Johnson before we left Denver to kill a beef and jerk it, a good beef. When we got there he had the whole beef already jerked for us, and we got other supplies -- we had plenty of supplies outside of a few things, but we got plenty to run through; we stayed there for Christmas dinner, in the old John D. Lee house. Q Where did this expedition go from there? A Went down to the Gulf of California, on down the river. Q Were there any more people in Glen canyon on your second trip than there were on your first trip? A Seems to me like the Chaffin boys were mining down below Hite a long ways.
