Show 4315 Loper- D 2338 A Yes sir. Q Or below side canyons? A Yes. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Mr. Loper, at places on the San Juan river where you get curves, -- where there are curves in the river, do you get a bar? A Your bar invariably is on the inside bend of the river; the velocity of the water will carry it to the outside of the bend. If you ever except to find a channel anywhere at any time, it is on the outside of a short bend; it is through the velocity, the weight of that water will carry it to the outside; there you except to find the channel, but immediately when that becomes straight or starts to make a reverse bend, between these two bends you have a crossing, it is bound to cross from the outside of this turn to the outside of the next one, which causes it to cross over; it flattens out and spreads all over the river. Q While you were in the San Juan river during the year 1921, did you see any other boats, other than yours, on the river? A Not a boat on the San Juan. Q Do you recall whether or not there was a ferry boat at Mexican Hat? |
