Show 4269 Rust- RD 2290 Q Do you know whether it is three feet of water or not? A I couldn't say as to that; I am certain it is at least a foot. Q Now, have you ever taken your boats through in the channel on the other side of the island? A Yes sir. Q How much water did you find through there? Did you get groundings in there? A I never did strike the bottom; couldn't afford to do it. Q I don't know whether I understand that or not. A With those lights boats, only drawing six inches of water, I was able to go over the rapid without striking bottom. Q In which one of those channels is the water the deeper? A Depends upon the place in the channel you sound it; there is one place on the ledge rapid where it is pretty shallow. Q Why do you select the smaller channel to go through? A Because the ledge rapid, though there may be plenty of water, is rough, the waves are too rough for our purpose. THE SPECIAL MASTER: He says the smaller channel was over twenty feet wide, I understand. MR. FARNSWORTH: He gave a greater width than that, as I recall. Q What is the width of the smaller channel? |
