Show 4235 Rust- D 2256 A I crossed the Green river at Gunnison crossing, or Greenriver, Utah, in 1891, took a band of horses across. Q Which direction were you going? A I was going east. Q Where had you assembled these horses? A They were assembled at Gunnison, Utah. Q And where is that with reference to Greenriver, Utah? A It is out in the valleys of Utah south of Provo. Q How large a herd or collection od horses did have? A We had three hundred head. Q How did you make the crossing of the river at Greenriver? A We put about half of them over on the ferry boat, and the rest of them, we put them across by swimming. Q Why didn't you put them all over on the ferry boat? A The ferry boat was hung up on a sandbar near the middle of the river, and we couldn't until the thing was fixed up. Q Do you recall how large a town Greenriver was at that time? A Small town. Q Was there a town also on the eat side of the river? A No town on the east side. Q Wasn't there a bog brick dwelling out that side at that time? |
