Show 4228 Allen- C 2249 my witness. MR. FARNSWORTH: I think I have been very good; I think your witnesses will testify to that. Q You recall one occasion, as I understand your direct testimony, when one member of your party walked across the river? A Yes sir. Q That was at Clay Hill? A Yes sir. Q How did he happed to do that, do you recall the incident? A The river was low, and he decided he could walk across, and wanted to try it. Q Did he walk across all right? A He walked across, and another man directly behind him almost went up to his waist in quicksand. Q You could see the bottom, see what part of him was in quicksand and what part was in water, could you? A You wouldn't see anything in the San Juan ordinarily, below the surface. Q The man that followed him went up to his waist, you say? A Nearly up to his waist in quicksand. Q He went up to his waist? Could you tell what that part of him out of sight was in? |
