Show 4167 McDonald- D 2187 That was a cattle range in there, a horse range all through in there, then up on the Buckskin in the summer. Q After you arrived at Kanab, then where did you go? A Went through to Milford; at that time that was the nighest railroad point. Q How far from Kanab? A I, gosh, I don't know. Q How many days did it take you to make the journey? A About three days, a little over. Q What is your best judgment about the mileage, how far it is from Kanab? A I would think it was one hundred and forty or one hundred and fifty miles. We went through to Panguitch, below Panguitch a ways we doubled up over the hill, down over the divide to Beaver, down the canyon from Beaver and around, and across the valley to Milford, the end of the railroad at that time, was up at Frisco, up in the mountains, a little mining town above Milford. Q The way that you went from Kanab to this town of Milford, did you follow a wagon road or trail? A Oh, yes, wagon road where they hauled freight in southern Utah; they got their freight in that way them days. Q Did you get some pack animals or horses? A No, we didn't try to get pack animals there. |
