The comprehensive remarks of Salvadori upon the specific characters and differences of sex, and the variety found in Ceram, as well as about the near relation of this species to Coriphilus fringil-laceus, &c. are confirmed by Dr. Platen's specimens. The native name given by Dr. Platen has not yet been noted by Salvadori. Nos. 1 and 7 are in the Brunswick Museum, Nos. 3 and 5 in the collection of Mr. Nehrkorn. 8. RHYTIDOCEROS PLICATUS (Penn.)
