Merrill was killed In June 1987, tragedy struck the Fox family. When Governor Bangerter while driving a 3 wheeler out on the farm. asked her to fill her husbands seat, she accepted. It turned out to be the best thing she could have done to help her adjust, and for the state of Utah. She has been twice elected on her own, and serves on some important committees. She has been the Vice 'Chairman of Trnsportation and Public Health, Safety, Transportation appropriation committee, Rul es, and Executi ve Energy and Natural Resources, Mana.gement, In 1988 she was elected to be the Assistant Appropriations.
