Show 144 DR. FAYE Elected B. 1961 FANNING to 1963 The Fannings of Roy were well known. They operated a chiropractic acti vi ties. in communi ty cl inic and participated Fanning Faye originally trained to be a nurse, then branched out and became a licensed chiropractor. In 1960 she ran for the legislature on the Democratic ticket from Dr. She and her husband, the First District in Weber County. William Fanning, campaigned and felt reasonably confident of her winning. But life is an uncertain gift. The day before election, a heart attack leaving Dr. William Fanning died unexpectedly of Faye and five children. The voters, almost entirely her and she was elected. unaware of what had happened, voted for her husband's death was a severe blow to Faye. In spi te of shock and grief, there were legal matters which must be taken care of, the clinic must be kept operating, and life must go on. She had been active in the Democratic Party and was urged to carryon in the legislature in spite of her tragedy. Her This she did and was assigned to Education, and Welfare and Rules Committees. Judiciary, Public Health, chair of a Weber County committee to investigate special social needs of the included her Ogden area, legislative interests juvenile detention facilities, state welfare institutions, state facilities and Industrial as well aid for the as School, prison better education opportunities for all. As an active Democrat, she served as state vice president of the Federated Democratic Womens clubs and was chair of the Judiciary Committee of Ogden City and Weber County Women's Legislative Council. She was active in PTA and Lions Club International As Auxiliary. she closed After her husbands her clinic in death, Roy manufactured and distributed vitamins and food supplements. and |
