She was Utah to a for the San delegate Francisco National Conference of social Work in 1928 and in 1929 was elected as Director of the Utah state Conference of Social Work where she was an active member for five years. Acha was a Board member of the Utah County Chapter of the American Red Cross, member of the Utah Valley Hospital, and represented the Relief Society General Board as a Director of the Utah Tuberculosis and Health Association from 1945 to 1956. She was also a board member of the Utah County Welfare Board and a member of the Board of Directors of the Mental Hygiene Society of Utah County. With increasing interest in consumer protection, B.M. Jolley, mayor of Orem, appointed her to act as Utah County's representative to the State Consumer's Committee. She enjoyed the Nelke Reading Club and the A.L.R. of which she was a member from its organization, Camp #1 of which she was the chaplain in 1955. Friendly Circle and the D.U.P. early lessons in elocution stood her in good stead for she made speeches during Republican campaigns and was not afraid to speak in commitee and on the floor of the legislature. It proved to be a useful skill in many ways for it helped het in her church Her many activities Rep. 82 Paxman and on the many died August 8, boards 1968. of which she was a member. |
