Show 126 ETHEL Elected Ethel 1896. PYNE 1947 to 1949 was born in the rural area of Utah County, on April 15, She lived there her whole life. She received her education in Orem and at the BYU. She married John D. Pyne on June 7,1916, and were the parents of five children. Pyne Ethel was the only woman elected to the legislature from Orem, and she was active in Republican politics. Her campaign cost $50. and a lot of I eg work. She campaigned the area for he r se l f and other Republ ican candidates of the year. Arthur Watkins, B.M. Joll ey, and Luke Clegg. They all won. Ethel was the chair of the American Fork Training School committee served also on the T.B. Sanatorium, public health, public welfare, traffic safety and manufacturing committees. She helped sponsor the bill to establish the Provo Tech School. and While in the legislature, one session was held in Fillmore honoring " Utah's first capi tol. She made a speech on Minor Surgery for Naturopaths." a delicious dinner was served, and their pictures were taken. These are still on display. In 1959 Ethel elected the January of Pyne was president of Executive Board of the Timpanogos First District of Federated Women's Cl ubs. She was previ ous 1 y a long time acti ve member in federated club work acting as parliamentarian, auditor and second vice president. She a charter member and past president of the Orem Literary member of Orem Women's Club, past president of the Melodian Chorus and the Lady Lions, chair of the United Nations committee in Orem, member and in 1965 president of the OWLs. was Club, Rep. Pyne was an active member of the LDS hurch were she had been Stake Primary President, Ward Primary President and in the Relief Society Presidency as well as a Junior Sunday School teacher. She received certificates of appreciation for her many services: Outstanding assistance in the United War Fund of Utah; Devotion to the Conference of the Utah Association; Primary Leadership Federation of Women's Clubs; Services to the Orem Lions Club; and Beautification Committee of the City of Orem. out Ethel lived her life in her interested and occupied with their lovely home community. in Orem busily |
