She was educated in the public schools and in a private school taught in Social Hall by Mary E. Cook. She attended the University of Deseret and grauated in 1879. She was a religious girl and at thirteen became active in the Retrenchment Society. A year later her name was added to the rolls of the Relief Society. She was a leader in that organization for much of the rest of her life. She At age twenty one, she married John Q. Cannon, journalist, and they had twelve children.
