Show SINCE 1922 HISTORIC ROOTS The Spring Salon is modeled after the Paris Salon of the 18th-19th Century. This prestigious and competitive European tradition gave rise to many young aspiring artists, and celebrated the most talented painters and sculptors of that era. In Springville, the tradition of the Spring Salon began in 1922 when SMA's collection was still housed at Springville High School. Artists across the country were invited to submit work for consideration, and over the years such notable artists as Norman Rockwell, Childe Hassam, and Robert Henri had their work displayed in the Salon. |
