Show Margot Shott Margot Shott has been a supporter of the UM FA for decades and her patronage is wide-ranging. She has volunteered at fund-raising events, curated exhibitions, and provided support for the membership and annual fund programs. Margot comes by her love of museums naturally through her experiences growing up in New York City and spending time with a cousin who worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She then volunteered with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art through Fashion Group, an association of women fashion executives. When Margot moved to Utah, she became involved with the UMFA and Pioneer Theatre, and came to appreciate the University of Utah as a steward of the arts for the community. Margot tells a story of being in a physician's office and hearing him speak of the UMFA exhibition Monet to Picasso from the Cleveland Museum ofArt with awe in his voice: "He told me he had never before seen a Monet. He spoke of it as if it were a whole new aspect to his life. I was very proud to be a part of the UMFA and the University in bringing that kind of work to the community." Margot has made the most significant of commitments to the UMFA by naming the Museum as a beneficiary in her will. When asked why, Margot declares, "I want to leave a mark . .. do some good in the future. Presenting art to the community is very important to personal growth and internal joy for every individual. I want to see the arts growing in the future." If you would like more information on how to include the UMFA in your will or estate plans, please contact Lisa Arnette at 801.585.5356. |
