Show exhibitions Relocation of Deborah Butterfield's Sculpture Rex (2002) This past fall, the fac;ade of the Marcia and John Price Museum Building underwent a radical and wonderful change. For the first time in its history, the UMFA put one of its artworks on permanent display onsite outdoors. ~ong considered a visitor favorite, Deborah Butterfield's sculpture Rex was relocated to the garden bed in front of the UMFA entrance to both identify the Museum and welcome guests. Weighing nearly one ton, the difficult task of moving the sculpture became a reality through the collaborative efforts of the UMFA staff. the University of Utah, and the Walla Walla Foundry where Rex was cast. The Museum is thrilled to offer members of the community the opportunity to see an unforgettable artwork outdoors, free of charge, with hopes that Rex will inspire people to venture into the Museum to experience more great art.
