Bierstadt to Warhol: American Indians in the West Opening Celebration Friday, February 15 University and UMFA Members Exhibition Preview I 5 pm Public Artist Talk by Shonto Begay I 6 pm Community Celebration 17 pm This celebration marks the opening of the exhibition Biers/ad/ to Warhol: Ameri can I West. Shonto Begay of the Navajo Nation, whose work appears in the exhibition, will work during this UMFA artist talk. Begay will discuss his artistic choices and handline non-mythologized everyday life, as well as the thought-provoking themes in his work Third Saturday Art Activity for Families: Tom-Paper Landscapes Saturday, February 16 I 1-4 pm During this free art event, visitors will explore the Dale Nichols: Transcending Regio and contemplate the sweeping landscapes and lonely fanns in Nichols' work. Then p, their hands at their own landscapes using torn paper and colored pencils.
