Friday, February 15 5 pm I University and UMFA Members Exhibition Preview 6 pm I Public Artist Talk by Shonto Begay 7 pm I Community Celebration Bierstadt to Warhol: American Indians in the West is an ambitious exhibition compr than 100 oil paintings, sculpture, and works on paper drawn primarily from the Diar Stewart Collection. It examines depictions of American Indian identity (by both nati non-natives) in a diverse array of styles . Shonto Begay of the Navajo Nation, whose work appears in the exhibition, will disc artistic choices and handling of non-mythologized everyday life, as well as the thou~ provoking themes in his work during his artist talk at 6 pm .
