W e received a typical female of A. bomba (but somewhat melanistic) from Zomba; it is the species referred to P. Z. S. 1895, p. 262, n. 45. This is a rare variety of A. guillemei, differing in nothing excepting the broad black apical patch of the primaries-a variation which crops up in a great number of species and is, doubtless, seasonal. 36.
