Show The function of education is the liberation of a person by teaching him to think; by giving him a basis for his ideas through facts and information, according to Dean Stephen P. Hencley of the Graduate School of Education. With this as its principle objective, Education offers a wide and varying range of career opportunities. Not only is there the possibility of teaching on all levels, but the student may also find many rewarding career opportunities in the fields of Home Economics, Education Administration, Special Education, and Educational Psychology. The student teaching and teacher assistant assignments give prospective teachers a direct and meaningful experience with the classroom. Through constant research and experimentation, the college is developing ways of improving the teaching profession with such techniques as micro-teaching, programmed instruction, and use of graphic communication laboratories. Added to the current undergraduate, master's, and doctorate programs is the new Masters of Education degree, a fifty-quarter hour program with an optional thesis. Also new is a six-year educational specialist degree in the Education Administration field. o Pupils teachingto learn o Q LU 377 |
