Show More than forty people, including campus and local people, participated in the week. From mild discussion of student panels to the Women's Liberation Movement, issues of every variety were presented. Government, the controlling force on so much of our lives, was discussed by two who help make it what it is. Senator Frank E. Moss of Utah and Representative Laurence J. Burton spoke on "Government and Ecology," and "A Politician looks at the Challenges of the 70's" respectively. They defended the Establishment as the only plausible means to solutions for the problems facing society in the future. "A concentrated effort seemed to have the best effect, so Challenge was left as a one-week program rather than spread it out into a little bit each quarter, as was suggested. It made publicity more effective and we believe a better turnout for each of the events. In fact, as a committee, we believe Challenge Week was most successful." 34 |
