Show The Anti-Establishment rebutted 36 "We wanted the students to know that there is much good being done by young people in this country today. We should be impressed with the fact that important work is being done by our peers, that they have something worthwhile to say." Harry Edwards, organizer of the 1968 Black Olympic boycott, is 27 years old. Himself a PhD. student at Cornell University, he told his audience the young people of America are its hope for the future. Sounding very much like Dick Gregory, he said "the black man in America who expects the very worst from the governmental structure, shall not be disappointed." Films were black and white, too. Produced by National Educational Television, three of the four movies dealt with prejudice and the Negro in American life. The fourth titled "Commit or Destruct" was the story of a launch control officer and the relationship to his family. All four were extremely pertinent to students. "Theatre of the Now" is applied to the San Francisco Mime Troupe. A unique team of twenty performers pantomime their scenes of social problems. They claim to be a nonprofit organization committed to change and fresh air. They added a freshness and a beautiful climax to the week of Challenge and "The Urgent Now." |
