Show HOMECOMING Affair goes informal Alumni were reasurred that "We remember U" as they were welcomed back to campus to reminisce college days. Despite threats of boycott from the Greek system, homecoming went as scheduled complete with the full regalia of house decorations, skits and quartets, queens and a smashing football game. Chosen to reign over homecoming activities were queen Lisa Frost and her two attendants Jill Frank and Marjorie Meads. They were crowned at halftime of the Ute-Utah State football game. Halftime presentations were a success, the game was even better with a Utah victory score of 27 to 7. The Homecoming Committee this year created excitement by threatening to eliminate block seating at the game. Greeks responded by withdrawing their house decorations. When the discussions died down, the block seating was still eliminated and the Greeks still erected house displays, with the execeptionof Sigma Phi Ep-silon, which built a spook alley inside for the neighborhood trick-or-treat-ers to visit and enjoy. Entertainment went country-western with John Hartford and his banjo performing in concert, followed by dancing to the music of Big Sky Country. The homecoming dance was very informal, setting a precedent for the other traditionally formal affairs of the University. 47 |
