UNION BOARD Providing for a more perfect Union The Union Board keeps the Union Building alive. The eleven student members and four faculty members, along with several administration, staff, and alumni representatives, are responsible for all policies involved in Union operation. When the conflict arose over the Huddle's early closing hours, Union Board came to the rescue; now the hippie haven may be enjoyed until the more reasonable hour of twelve p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The Union Board even makes it possible for students to rent the new Panorama Room for things like wedding receptions. "The Union is for People"- but mainly for student-type people. Everything Union Board does with the UB is geared toward the relaxation and refreshment of the book- weary, test-conscious student mind. The Union is a place for the restoration of one's spirits-with a hamburger in the Commons, a good game of pool, or a replay of "Hair" in the listening room. Union Board likes to hear students' opinions about the Union and its policies; sometimes the Board acts on the best of these ideas. The Board members have a cabinet made up of twenty-five to thirty students who also actively participate in Union functioning. Divided among Food Service, House Committee, Public Relations, and Programs Council, this student cabinet works as a team to keep the Union for students. Union Open House was largely the effort of this cabinet. |
