Show around with the existing structure. The whole thing is an absolute failure. Get a group, wow! Get together and change! Wow! Change one set of idiots for another. Reason with the Pigs, oh wow! Pigs got families too. Right. Student Government is very good at articulation, but has had very, very few effective programs to put these goals in action. Talk is cheap; change isn't. Do YOU want to be like the rest of those clods, slaved to money, sent off to die, choked with smog, poisoned with booze and told what to do all your life? Listen baby we are a different civilization with a different culture. Do you think for a minute that a power structure like the one in control of this country will allow something like that to challenge it? Do YOU want to be like the rest of those clods, slaved to money, sent off to die, choked with smog, poisoned with booze and told what to do all your life? Can you see that? Can you compromise with that? Are you able to ignore the state of things to come? Do you think the DAR Grannies will tolerate someone who knows George Washington used pot? Good luck if you do, man. We got the message at Chicago and Berkeley and from "Easy Rider." People refuse to serve us food because of our appearance! You can only push a man so far. You wanna end The War? Limit Pollution? Integrate? Encourage Direct Democracy? Well, whooopee! WE will end war, stop capitalism, destroy the racist oligarchy controlling the world; and we see only one way to do it. You've got to say, "F-it," and walk away. If someone tries to stop you, then you fight, because you've nowhere else to go. Don't listen to the demagogues crying "Worker's Revolution" and spouting slogans. All they want is to replace the big boys now in power with new bodies. Do your own thing. Don't let some fair-haired boy with a Cause in his acid eyes commit deeds in your name. But don't think it will be easy on you, either, brother, because Pigs can only see in two dimensions. A university is a handy place to escape the bigoted community and foster our culture. The student officers are mostly fat-cat Greeks and harmless social worker types, so they don't cause much trouble but the community and administration would like nothing better than tromping us right off the campus, so we sometimes have to fight for our right to educate ourselves and that's hard. Grades get in the way of learning, so we have to hassle that; lots of times no one will teach what we want, so we work at that too. And so many plastic people get in and confuse the issues, but you don't want to put them down, even if they are hard to take, and,...yeah. The scenery in the radical movie ain't much-it's being an actor that counts. Being in it and doing it, that's where it's at, and. . . you've got to try it. They come, they go, they like pretty new cars, they get grades, learn enough to get jobs and will, if unchecked, multiply the rest of us out of existence. Peacefully we protest and peacefully fade away-ignore it and it will go away. THE GREAT INDIGENT PLURALITY We've already driven the computer campus ambience route; and we've been inferring a community view through this whole deal-it's part of the U campus script-so this really amounts to a summation of the comments on the bulk of our student body. They come, they go, they like 21 |
