Show ASSOCIATED WOMEN STUDENTS Well laid plans to stay alive This year the Associated Women Students struggled to get the organization back on its feet. In comparison to other campuses where the president of the Women's Association has the same rank as the student body president, the University of Utah's AWS is a relatively weak organization. In the past the AWS was given the rather ignoble task of regulating dorm hours; this year its officers wanted to create a herbarium -a sorority-like greenhouse open to all University women, to be located somewhere in the area behind the Park Building. The house would have accomodations for meetings, speakers, lunch, sleeping, and just relaxing between classes. The AWS is also responsible for the Hall of Fame, which each year honors outstanding women students on campus. Endeavoring to keep up with the pace of a modern, fast-moving University, the AWS sponsored a computer date program in March, an art-fashion show in April, and turned their attention on minority groups with an event called Black Week.
