Show PROGRAMS COUNCIL Vital organ for campus activity Programs Council is the branch of Union Board devoted to bringing recreational, cultural, and social activities to the Union. The Council is made up of the heads of nineteen different Union Committees; each of these committees takes a different aspect of student life and develops it. For the controversial-minded, there is Probe, the committee which this year was responsible for the rather spectacular appearance of Jerry Rubin on campus. For those with a fondness for music (which probably includes almost everyone), there are the listening booths of the Browsing Room, where you may relax to the harmony of Simon and Garfunkel. Or, if you prefer, there are the thunderous, driving rock bands in concert, the dizzying red/ purple/black/white/light shows, the hot intensity and intermingling of the stomps, all sponsored for your enjoyment by the Council Committee called Rock. And if you want to make your own music, but aren't quite sure just how, Programs Council can help you there, too-try Guitar Workshop, a relatively new committee on the Programs roster, offering close personal instruction in' guitar at all levels. For Art lovers there is the Union Art Gallery with its constantly varied exhibits; for movie fans, Union Movies brings "The Graduate" and "Camelot" at student-oriented prices. Each committee represented on Programs Council is trying to make the Union a place of relevance to all sorts of students with all sorts of interests. The Council's rnain goal is to bring rarr, yas life as close to the student as the Union itself.
