Show University of Utah Civil Engineering Employer Questionnaire - 2001 Dear <First_Name>: Your response to the following questions is needed, and will assist us in evaluating and improving our programs and procedures. The questions are based primarily on the ABET Accreditation. Under the new ABET Criteria 2000, we evaluate our programs in a variety of ways. One very important evaluation tool is how employers who hire our graduates feel about the Civil Engineering education at the University of Utah. Your opinions will be sincerely appreciated. Lawrence D. Reaveley, Chair PLEASE CORRECT OR PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION NAME: <First_Name> <MI> <Last_Name> TITLE: <Title> COMPANY: <Company> |A D D R E S S : <Address_1> IC I T Y / S T A T E Z I P: | <Street_or_PO> | < C i t y _ S t a t e _ Z i p > E-MAIL: <Email> IPHONE: <Phone> FAX: I. Objectives of Accreditation The ABET accreditation process is a voluntary system of accreditation that seeks to assure that graduates of an accredited program are prepared adequately to enter and continue the practice of engineering. How do you feel about the education of your employees who are U of U graduates? Please check the box that most closely matches your opinion. Comments will also be welcomed. Basic Level Accreditation Criteria It is the responsibility of the institution seeking accreditation of an engineering program to demonstrate clearly that the program meets the following criteria. Students: The quality and performance of the students and graduates is an important consideration in the evaluation of an engineering program. The institution must evaluate, advise, and monitor students to determine its success in meeting program objectives. VS = Very Satisfied; S = Satisfied, N = Neither Satisfied nor Dissatisfied; D = Dissatisfied; VD = Very Dissatisfied To what extent are you satisfied with the knowledge-level our courses and instructors provide students for engineering practice? VS N D VD Comments: Program Outcomes and Assessment: To what extent are you satisfied with the following specific outcomes of the education of University of Utah graduates? If problems, please suggest how we might improve in the space below each item. VS = Very Satisfied; S = Satisfied, N = Neither Satisfied nor Dissatisfied; D = Dissatisfied; VD = Very Dissatisfied (a) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics (including differential equations), probability and statistics, science (to include calculus-based physics and general chemistry) to engineering problems. Suggestions: VS S N D VD (b) An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data in more than one of the recognized major civil engineering areas. Suggestions: VS S N D VD (c) An ability to design a sustainable and constructible civil engineering system, component, or process to meet desired needs, and considers life-cycle-cost issues. Suggestions: VS S N D VD (d) An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
