[Valencia, <-?, August.] A single example is sent by Mr. Everett; and it seems to belong to a species distinct from P. cyaniceps, and Mr. Sharpe appears to have been justified in separating it, notwithstanding the doubt he expresses (1. ci). Besides the lower breast and abdomen being pure white, the dimensions of the rectrices and wings, when compared with those of an adult Luzon male, are longer ; tail 4*12 as against 3'50 ; wing 3*25 as against 2*87. These, however, are larger dimensions than those given by Mr. Sharpe of his type. 21. LEUCOCERCA NIGRITORQUIS (83). [Valencia, <S, August. Dumaguete, $, August.] 22. CYORNIS PHILIPPINENSIS. Cyornis philippinensis, Sharpe, Tr. L. S. 2nd series, Zool. i. p. 325. [Valencia, <-? (juv.), August: iris dark brown ; bill black ; legs bluish grey. Dumaguete, August.] The young birds (of which a series of five are sent) have their plumage, with the exception of the remiges and rectrices, which are brown, washed with blue or greenish blue, marked with large pale rufous spots. In one the whole of the body-plumage is so marked ; in another the abdomen and throat are white; in another several of the uniform blue dorsal feathers have come in, and the breast is turning to pure rufous. The throat-plumes are the last to change to the adult colouring, while full maturity is indicated by the intensity of the rufous on the throat and breast. 23. HYPOTHYMIS AZUREA (85). [Valencia, <-?
