He is greatly Improved but has physical impairments he111 have to continue to work on in his left hand and legs. However, he is setting procedures in motion to get back to work. The enclosed letter from Guy Martin came after you people had set up the meeting with the BuRec. I think it is important, if you have not already done this, that you write up a recap of what transpired at the Feb. 23 meeting with the Bureau telling what was accomplished and what cost questions remain to be answered with Bureau proposals to answer them. Please send copies of this letter to Brent Blackwelder and to me. I'll pass along copies to those Groups I have been informing of our activities. I think it would be important for TU or CRCUP or Fed. of Fly Fishermen to fund Bill Geer at appropriation hearings in Washington in April While Geer might have constraints put upon him by the State as to what he could present in testimony, committee members could question him to elicit the real facts. He is an effective advocate and is needed to offset the untruths presented in Washington by McKay, Marriott and Matheson. I have already suggested to Bill that he go and we would see what arrangements could be made. I also suggested this to David Freed. I have written the National Wildlife Federation to help fund my travel expenses. It is very helpful to get in on the inside strategy planning of top people at these conferences, such as the Dam Conference. (I would hope I could testify at appropriation hearings and attend the Conference.) Techniques used in one dam effort suggest initiatives for a different development. Guy Martin sent me a packet of material showing progress of the implementing of the Water Policy - Drafts of Agency proposals, policy planning, etc. These are excellent and |
