It does not list your name. I'm afraid you might have dropped out of the CRCUP group because of the hoorah over the letter I wrote Sec. Andrus about the Bureau talking you into a meeting. The way I see it, you had to be xXsacrif iced^in this issue to make a point to Andrus - that the BuRec cioes^anything to keep from providing us - the paying public - information we have requested - in written form. This letter, by the way, got back to Plummer. All communications to Andrus on the Bureau get right back to that Dep't. In a way, now, however, it ought to be clear to Plummer that CRCUP is solidly committed in its purpose and actions. You should not feel embarrassed or angry. You helped us make a needed point! However, this situat Fred passed on to the Group had via long distance teleph guidance from Blackwelder, i Gerry. To be honest,I have his mind - the issue at hand thinks is needed. We all do working with a group dedicat isn't fair. ion could the entire one betwee n Washingt found that - but the this to s ed toward have been avoided had discussion he and I n us and subsequent to on and from Lee K. and Fred filters through n deals with it as he ome extent - but in a common goal - this I consider this entire happening as growing pains of CRCUP. We are all lacking in some way or another. However, the fact that we are even daring to tackle a $1 - $3 billion dollar tightly entrenched water project in a Society taught - to accept what the big boys tell them is right - is an enormous undertaking. Like ants under the feet of an elephant! Please do not drop out! As Senator Proxmire tells me, the CUP will be stopped only when Utah elected officials are purssuaded this is the only alternative - politically. The major action has to come within Utah- I see an important vacuum still existing within CRCUP and even the Sierra Club (with whom I also work on CUP). This is the area of implementing the Clean Water Act, the Carter Water Policy, Administrative Directives to Federal Agencies to co-operate with the State to implement this, and getting State and Federal laws on water management working. It is filling this vacuum I think you ought to concentrate on. The expertise you develop in this area will serve the Audubon Society, the Sierra Club and CRCUP. There are no public citizen experts in Utah on water issues... who are free to act. |
