Show P. Galloway- C 1148 have you? A Sir? Q You had not been over that stretch of the river recently, that is, prior to your 1928 trip with Mr. Eddy? A No. Q And there was sometimes difficulty in determining just where the channel was? A Yes, the bars would head you off a good deal, and you would have difficulty finding deep enough water to float through over the sandbars. Q And when you struck a sandbar like that, you endeavored to get off the bar and back into deeper water, didn't you? A Yes, we always hunt for deeper water. Q Are you familiar with that stretch of river between Moab and Shafer No. 1 well and Shafer No. 2 well? A I have been over that river on that large boat, I think two trips going up. Q That is your only experience with that part of the river, is it? A Except when I was a boy I went up that strip with my father, clean through, with a row boat. Q Did you at that time have opportunity to see anything with reference to the frequency of sandbars? A At the time I was a boy? Q With your father, yes. A I don't remember so much about that. 3120 |
