Show Galloway- D 1061 A Not every winter down in that country. Q I mean, as an ordinary thing does it freeze over in winter? A No sir, I don't think it does, only just it places where the ledges keeps it shaded. Q I mean the river itself. How about the Colorado above the junction,- does that freeze over in the winter? A I don't believe it freezes over there; it might do in some places, as I said before, where it is shaded. ( Recess) BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q These cuttings of the river that you spoke of, where the beaver dams were left high and dry, would those changes in the river occur suddenly? A I hardly think so, not so very. Possibly a period of two or three days. THE SPECIAL MASTER: You couldn't tell unless you saw it occurring? A I don't know - I have seen two or three inches of water, and they start to cut, and within twenty- four hours there is two or three feet of water there, and the bank is two or three feet high, just a sand bank; every once in a while it will cave, cut back a little further, keep getting a little more current there all the time. I have seen that within twenty- four hours. 3033 |
