Show P. Galloway- D 1132 A Well, we started at the mouth of North Wash. Q And what equipment did you have on that trip? A We built two boats at the mouth of North wash, and we had our camp and supplies; it would amount to five or six hundred pounds in each boat, I suppose. Q Where did you buy the camp and supplies and the lumber out of which you built these boats? A At Greenriver, Utah. Q Why didn't you build your boats in Greenriver, Utah, and go on down the river? A We wished to avoid the Cataract canyon. Q Could you make the trip quicker by going overland? A Yes. Q You went on down by automobile or wagon to Hanksville? A Yes sir. Q Then from Hanksville where did you go? A We went around on the old road to the North wash, down the North wash to the river. That road, I think, one time was put in at this place you spoke of. Q Hite? A Hite; and it was pretty well washed out at the time we went there; however, we got down. Q And but it your boats right on the river bank? A Yes sir. Q Then started from there? A Yes. 3104 |
