Show Baldwin- D 1191 A We decided it would take too long to get up there. Q Do you know the condition of the Colorado river between Moab and Castle creek? Have you ever tried to boat up in there? A We have taken the Evinrude boat and this passenger boat up about three and a half miles to a point we call Nigger Bill; from there on it is riffles, rocks. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Did you say the Evinrude and also the passenger boat? A Yes. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q You couldn't get either one of those boats past Nigger Bill creek? A It would be foolish to attempt it, because you would break your propeller; big boulders in the creek. Q Do you recall what time of the year that was, what month? A We was up there different times on fishing trips, is all; I don't know what time of year it was, probably once or twice a year when we would go up there for a little trip, to try out a boat or something. Q Do you know of any supplies or other merchandise being transported on the Colorado river, except that which you transported by the boats of the Moab garage? A I don't know of any other of any importance. Q When you say " of any importance," just what does that mean? A I guess it might be important; the U. S. C. L. O. party was 3163 |
