Show Galloway- C 1104 A I believe there is more swift water down in there than what there would be above. Q There is more water, of course. A There is more water; the two streams come together. Q There is a greater depth of water? A On those riffles; there is something I have never been able to understand; I have encountered difficulties just the same there as I have above, where there is leas water on shallow places. Q But you have encountered fewer difficulties? A Well, I don't know as to that. I find in boating that river the conditions are where you find them; that is all I can say; you run into it where you least expect it. Q Well, you do not wish to be understood as saying, do you, that you find as narrow water in the channel generally below the mouth of the Dirty Devil and between there and Lee's Ferry as you do up between Moab and the confluence of the Green and Colorado, do you? A The conditions of the formation around the river is what gives you the width of your river. Now, there is places down there where, as you say, there is more water; it is possibly quiet a lot wider. Other places you will find it pretty much boxed in, ledges come in. Whether it wider there than it is above, I don't know; I had no way of measuring it. Q I will put it this way.
