Show Prommel- RD 1036 MR. FARNSWORTH: He has not answered your question. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Did you have any difficulty -- did you get stuck on any sand bars? A We got stuck on a sandbar going down, yes. Q How did the boat get off? A They had a couple little windlasses on each side of the boat; they had a row boat along, go ashore, tie a rope either to a tree or a rock, and then windlass themselves off the sandbar. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You mean to say they did that on that trip you took down there? A Yes, they did it once. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Was that windlass operated by the engine? A No, I think it is a little ratchet windlass, little hand-windlass, as I remember. Q Did you come back up on the boat? A Yes sir, I came back up on the boat. Q Did you have any trouble with sandbars? A I believe once; there, however, we reversed the engine, because the sandbars facing downstream are steep, you see, just the front end of the boat which catches; it is not as difficult to get off the bar. 3008 |
