Show P. Galloway- D 1136 Q Did you have to tow your boats any? A Yes sir; in places we could find some sandbar or bank that we could walk along, we would tow our boats with a long rope; sometimes we would do that with one man hold of a sixty- foot rope, the end of it, the other man takes an oar and holds the boat out into the river. Q Did you go into Moab on that boat of the Moab garage? A Yes, from somewhere above that oil well, I don't know the name of the oil well, I believe they called it No. 2, we went from there up in the big boats. Q Did the big boat have any trouble with the sand bars on the way up? A Yes, we hit sandbars in a place or two; however, I believe we was always able to back off again. The way I remember, we made the trip through without hanging up for any great length of time. Q When was the next time that you were on that river? A The next time was with the Eddy party, after the trip we were just speaking of. Q I am referring now to the section between Moab and the junction of the Green river. A Oh. Q What other time were you on that section of the river, and when? A I am afraid I can't give the dates as to the time, but I was on there; went up there one trip with my father, a good many 3108 |
