Show Galloway- C 1093 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q I think maybe you better explain what that trapping for the state is, -- what the purpose of it is. A I really don't know exactly what the purpose is, only at the time we did the work for the state we went to the Fish and Game Commissioner and got a permit to trap this portion of the river. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What were your directions from the state? A What was we supposed to do? Q Yes. A We divided, and gave them half of what we got off of the trip out of the beaver skins. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q This is the fact, isn't it, Mr. Galloway, that beaver generally are protected in Utah? A Yes sir. Q And in order to trap them there must be a special permit? A Yes sir. Q When they get sufficiently numerous so there is no danger of extinguishing them from further trapping, it seems desirable to permit the trapping of some of them, and permits are issued? A Yes. Q And trappers under those conditions get one- half of what is realized from the pelts and the state gets the other half? 3065 |
