There is such a thing as cross examining a witness with the idea of finding out -- of testing the credibility of the witness, and also determining just what he means by certain other answers. There has just been one case where he came up the river in a row boat, to Lockhart as I recall it, and stopped there. Of course I am leading up to that thing. That is what I have in mind in this examination. I want to see whether the fact of his stopping there was a perfectly natural thing, or whether it was caused by some grave difficulties in navigation of this river. That is what I had in mind. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Of course, what he said was, he wanted to get home for Christmas. MR. FARNSWORTH: I don't know whether it was that trip or not. THE SPECIAL MASTER: All right. Go ahead. MR.
