Show Galloway- D 1060 A Yes, that is between the Green river and the junction of the Green and the Colorado. Q Do I understand these beaver dams are built clear across the river? A They aren't beaver dams, no; the beaver, when they put their cache in, they put it in deep water, so it won't freeze up on them during the winter months, and the river had gone so low down, they had to move away from there; they had no water, hardly, at all, there; and they would move somewhere also, where the water was deep. The beaver will not dam the water in a stream like the Green river or Grand river. They have got plenty of water without it. Q As I understand you, the beaver, in selecting a place of that kind, select a fairly deep section of the river? A Yes. Q And that what you mean is, the river has shifted? A Yes. Q So the deep part of the river is away? A That is it. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q In this stretch of the Green river, in the fall, or in December, 1927, did you have any trouble with ice? A Not until we got to the junction of the river; I think that was on the 21st of December it started floating ice. Q Does that Green river freeze over in winter? 3032 |
