Show Galloway- D 1045 A good many times you would get out -- start over one of those riffles if you had the main current of the river, follow it on down, and you eventually find you haven't the current, at all. Maybe you would get stuck there, and have to row or wade back and pull your boat, in a good many cases, and hunt around to get the main channel. Q Where is that with reference to Castle creek and Moab, where does that condition obtain? A I don't believe I know for sure which place is Castle creek. I don't know those places by name. Q It wouldn't help you to look at the map? A Possibly not. Q About how many miles above Moab did you run into that sandbar condition? A Well, starting out of the canyon in places from the canyon down to Moab if the river has any chance to spread in a sandy formation then you will encounter those conditions, riffles and shallow water. Q Have you ever attempted to take a boat up the Colorado or the Grand river from Moab towards Westwater canyon? A No, I have been up the Colorado from the junction over to Moab. Q From Moab up towards Westwater canyon how far, in your opinion, could you take a row boat? A I think I could go as far as the Westwater canyon -- Marble canyon, whatever it is known as. 3017 |
